Metabolite Identification
Common NameN-Succinyl-L,L-2,6-diaminopimelate
DescriptionN-Succinyl-L,L-2,6-diaminopimelate is an intermediate in lysine biosynthesis. It is the third to last step in the synthesis of lysine and is converted from N-Succinyl-2-amino-6-ketopimelate via the enzyme succinyldiaminopimelate transferase (EC 2.6.1.17). It is then converted to L,L-diaminopimelate via the enzyme succinyl-diaminopimelate desuccinylase (EC 3.5.1.18).
