DescriptionCytidine monophosphate, also known as 3'-cytidylic acid and abbreviated CMP, is an ester of phosphoric acid with the nucleoside cytidine. CMP consists of the phosphate group, the pentose sugar ribose, and the nucleobase cytosine. It is an unusual, but naturally occurring form of CMP, as the normal form is 5'-CMP. It is a substrate for 2',3'-cyclic-nucleotide 2'-phosphodiesterase.
